Default C/L 924 & 931 combo

I didn’t know there was a 924 Turbo in 1980, but now I do... YMMV.

IIRC, most were two tone as well. silver/black or tan/brown. Offered for a couple of years - 79-82? I believe Trackrat has (or had) one too... not too many out there anymore. Some parts are unobtanium too which doesn't help.

Some had 4bolt wheels, better ones (relative) had 5bolt wheels - perhaps part of a package upgrade.. Had about 170hp for Euro spec, about 145 in us trim so relatively quick in its day. Never driven one, but I presume lag was present.

One on left looks just like one of mine. 2ltr. Audi engine, never sold in any other chassis in US. Nice option was 4 wheel disk brakes w/slotted rotors (5 bolt, late offset wheels). Otherwise front disks with no vent and back drums (4 bolt wheels).

Like all Porsches w/924 in the designation; they have the crape dash and HVAC!

There is a name from the past. He was the very first person in the pcar community to help me out with DIY. Bought my 951 rear sway bar from him.

The old joke: 924 Turbos are God's way of telling you that you have too much money.

My memory when it comes to these is that series 1 (1979/80) are slightly different: dog-leg gearbox and lower compression, and an engine-oil-cooled turbo.

Series 2 (1981/1982) which has a "h" shift and higher compression (more power), revised turbo, and better brakes.

We raced one for a few years. Never did get that audi motor to run, so swapped it. Sublime on the track. Probably should have sold off all the body panels and trim pieces instead of running it with all that unobtanium still bolted on, but oh well.
