I'm no longer at the VW Group but saw this go by and thought some Dorki might be interested. I know the hiring manager but have not spoken with him about it, so don't have any specific insights but can tell you what I know if you're interested.

Audi is a good but very particular place to work - this won't be the usual technical/product/project manager gig.

Description

Role Summary:

This Digital Platform Business Operations Manager will work within the Digital Retail Operations team in Herndon VA. This team is responsible for the majority of Audi of America’s consumer-facing digital properties and dealership digital sales and service tools, including:
Audiusa.com brand website
30+ dealer advertising group websites
278+ dealer websites
Audi digital sales lead program
myAudi online ownership portal
Consumer mobile applications
Audi Progressive Retail Experience program (digital sales and service software, enterprise mobile applications and hardware tools at dealers)
This role will interface with key Audi of America business owners to gather business requirements, translate these requirements into technical requirements and assess technical solutions by either leveraging existing internal or 3rd party platforms, adapting existing platforms or directing internal or 3rd technical resources to build and maintain technical solutions. This role will oversee the department’s technical platforms and strategy, translating business operations and reporting requirements in robust, efficient and long-term technical execution.

Role Responsibilities:

The Digital Platform Business Operations Manager will manage the various Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) and work collaboratively with dedicated Audi of America and agency technical teams on the deployment processes for teams of Software Engineers, Web Developers and Operations staff. They will be responsible for facilitating the design, development, deployment and maintenance strategy of technology solutions leveraging professional standards and methodologies.
Accurately scope technical components of overall solutions.
Create and execute plans, revising these as necessary to meet the demands of the project.
Advocate development best practices.
Provide hands-on development support to project teams where necessary.
Apply significant knowledge of technologies and innovations in order to resolve complex team challenges.
Act as liaison between other disciplines and technology team members.
Interface directly with the business sponsors when required and present innovations, issues and risks.
Effectively communicate issues, risks and dependencies with project stakeholders, escalating where appropriate.
Relentlessly review the output of the development team, measuring quality and identifying solutions to process deficiencies.
Build good relationships with team members, ensuring a high level of team morale and assist team members in their career development.
Interact with, direct and influence multiple, cross-discipline agency partner teams, including business strategy, budget management, technical architecture, digital production and product management.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
10+ years professional experience in software development, project management
Experience implementing large scale retail website and marketing programs
Budget management experience
Experience in managing teams / leading agencies
Experience with Agile software development method
Previous experience working as Software Engineer, Web Developer, Release Engineer or Architect
Experience designing and building web sites and applications using open source web platforms
For candidates with java background: experience in several application servers (Tomcat, JBoss)
For candidates with a Front End Development background: experience with open standards technical stack (HTML, CSS, Javascript) as well as experience in implementing modern frameworks and libraries (SASS, Compass, Backbone.js, jQuery, etc)
NoSql experience (MongoDB, Redis, MobileFS, Cassandra)
Experience with a variety of web development frameworks and libraries: Spring, Seam and others
Experience managing the development and delivery of commercial web applications
Experience technically managing or leading other engineers
Experience working in or directly with an agency and/or creative and/or technical consultancy is advantageous
Desired Experience:
Experience in Adobe CQ/AEM product and tech stack (OSGi)
Corporate marketing experience with worldwide premium brands
Required Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of the latest developments and technologies in the retail digital marketing environment (retail websites, digital marketing, search marketing, prospect/audience targeting, lead acquisition, mobile, social media, etc.)
Verbal and written communication must clear, concise, and well-articulated
Proven ability to track results & utilize data to improve performance
Success in developing strong working relationships across many layers of an organization, outside agencies/suppliers & across cultural boundaries
Proficient in developing RFP/RFQ for 3rd party developers, particularly in the retail digital space
Strong knowledge of Test Driven Development practices and frameworks
Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Deployment/Delivery practices, tools and process
Understanding of modern cloud architectures and virtualization concerns is essential
Strong understanding of high performance website architectures and patterns
Comfortable working with tight deadlines; must be proactive and able to multi-task
Ability to rapidly research and evaluate new technologies
Desired Skills:
German language skills
Knowledge of automotive sales and marketing environment
