I live on a hill with the driveway pointing across the face of the hill.

With the stock splitter, I have to back out of my driveway with the nose pointing uphill, even though I need to go downhill to get out of the neighborhood.

Obvious comment Otto, you don't get much downforce till you get closer to 100 mph ??

Dont mean to derail and I'm only really regurgitating.... Was reading a bit about aero in GRM recently.
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...-spoiler-tips/

Quote:
Speed: Since we are dealing with an aerodynamic device, we need to address the old rule of forces increasing at the square of the speed increase. If you figure out your numbers at 60 mph and you typically run closer to 120 mph, those forces will be four times larger than your calculations. At low speeds, the downforce will be noticeable even as low as 30 mph but drag will not be significant until you start to get north of 60 mph. Watching a car with a large spoiler on a dusty track can show you how well a simple spoiler can work at low speeds.
Quote:
To figure out the drag increase, you need to take the area of the spoiler itself and multiply it by the pressure differences from the front of the car to the back. (This will give a decent approximation, but is not the exact spoiler drag.) A typical car has 10–15 pounds of drag at 60 mph, so you can figure out how much you increased drag in exchange for the extra downforce.
Boiled down, usable improvements at low speed. Obvious variables are element size and angle. The impact of drag is very interesting, as much for mounting and material structure as anything else.

Charlie Murphy had a hell of a time driving my Cup car from his shop to Behe's with the front splitter.

This is the factory splitter on the GT3 it is very low. The car has (Front Axel Lift) so you can get into tight spots.

What I like about the splitter is that the replacement is about $300, so it is made to fail.

I would recommend that you consider the replacement cost of the splitter because it is a consumable

This car the 997.2 also has a factory splitter but no “FAL” and gets tagged everywhere. Of course the replacement is $$$.

Because I’m a slow learner the car is in the shop this week getting lowered another 10mm

Even more fun with left foot braking. I would suggest putting a couple of walnuts on the seat when you first try. Once you stop breaking the walnuts, then you'll know that you're comfortable with the technique.
