Agree. I wanted that tail to save me from painting mine, but it was sold, and I believe our own CC was the buyer - but does he own a Carrera (can't see fog lights but window view does look like later A/C vents so probably not an SC)?

I stand corrected (except for the Cliffy part)

At first I thought it was an 80 SC Weissach without the correct wheels and tail but the photo shows no red piping on the seats so no dice...

Just got done sorting out one of those. Fun driver and good distance between new and old.

bill, the car is mine. i use it when i fly into BWI, which has not been very often this winter. it is a 76 carrera 3.0. and dark brown not the turd brown. plaid cloth seats. pretty much factory original except the tail. the factory tails are unobtainable, so i removed the tail and put it in my dining room. admittedly the green tail is not the right color for that car, but it does make me smile whenever i see it. even if only because it reminds me of my good friend dr. k!

I remember first meeting CC and this car at Mid Ohio. Conversation went like this...

CC: why do you think my car is smoking like this?

Me: hmmm... Could be on fire.

CC: really?

Me: let me look... yup, it's on fire. (I proceeded to use the Deer Park I was drinking to douse the meager flames)

CC: think it's safe to go out in the next session?

Me: sure, as long as it doesn't catch fire again. Nice meeting you...

oh man, those were the days!
btw, thanks for putting the fire out.
that was what was so cool about the old ghetto, everyone with old cars, helping each other out, always putting out fires...
that was a different car though. it was foglite blue. still have that one somewhere. the motor is in my dining room....
