Perhaps a noobie question, but that 20% is a pressure difference measured before the cylinder and after correct? That sounds like a big drop indicating air is going somewhere, but I am not expert.
Is a number like that in of itself indicative of a mechanical problem? A few things come to mind off the top of my head that could allow air to escape such as a bad seal in ring, valve, head gasket, or even a crack in the block/piston/head. The most common/simple would be what, rings or valves? Or nothing? Should there be other indicators like excess pressure in the cooling and/or oiling system if the air isn't escaping to the outside?

Never been accused of being smart, I made an offer that stuck.
Hoping for the best, and will handle the worst, if happens. Likely will put it on dyno to decide if further examination is warranted.

That's cool, and the right attitude.
A rebuild is rarely much over $40k these days. So you will be spending less on this car than on your last one

^^
The only difference between my garage and Ryan's is that every time I buy a Porsche, I have to stop and pick up a jar of Vaseline on the way home.
