Sad News
Sorry to be bringing this, but Tuffy Von Briesen passed last night. He was very involved with PCA Potomac and on here before moving to Texas. He was DE Chair for a while and wore many hats in Porsche world. He had been in Hospice for a short time.

I met Tuffy working on his ac. We started talking about cars. He had a BMW at the time and was disappointed that B club did not have but a couple of driving events. Bingo! Try Potomac PCA. A couple de’s later I run into him at Summit in a 911 cab. A couple events later I run into him again at the track in a 911 coupe, and welcome to the slippery slope.
RIP Tuffy. |

It is with deep sadness that PCA Potomac announces the passing of "Tuffy" von Briesen last night after a battle with cancer. Formally known as Delphin von Briesen, Tuffy was President of PCA Potomac in 2009-2010.
Tuffy was known to many as a very active participant and instructor in the High Performance Driver Education Program. With well over 300 days on the race track with PCA Potomac, he was a leader on and off the circuit. Many of the posts on Facebook today are his former driving students, praising his work in helping them improve their performance driving skills. He was also very compelling, getting members to “volunteer” for positions without ever knowing how it happened! Tuffy continued high performance driving and his extensive leadership and PCA volunteer efforts when he moved to the Hill Country Region in Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren about 10 years ago. There, Tuffy became the President of Hill Country Region for several years and had positions in PCA National as Porscheplatz Coordinator and most recently as Zone 5 Representative, overseeing 12 PCA regions in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. PCA Potomac recognized Tuffy in 2014 with the special and seldom given “Founders’ Award”, for his extraordinary impact on our club. Only given four times in Potomac’s history, this award underscored the impact Tuffy had on our members, sponsors, volunteers and key personnel within the extensive programming of PCA. We would like to express our sincere condolences to Tuffy’s wife, Sheri, and the entire von Briesen family, especially his grandchildren, of whom he was most proud. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Godspeed, Tuffy, and many, many thanks for being such an important leader within PCA. Sincerely, PCA Potomac Executive Committee Tuffy with Mia Walsh and Diane Sullenberger at the 2021 Porsche Parade PS. For those wishing to send condolences to the von Briesen family, please contact Mia Walsh at mia@pcapotomac.org.
