I have something similar on my 356 and plan either on top or under the grill of the 914 when I put it together. Every bit of light helps with our old, small cars

Hi BillC - I have not forgotten about you. I am just having trouble finding out where that LED came from as we have had it sitting and waiting for about a year. I will keep looking.

BillC- I spoke with the guys and my LED was a part of a buy that included two others and this was the last one of the 3. They do not recall where it came from but it is 12" long. The best I can do is shoot a picture of it when the car comes home and then send that to you so you can hopefully match it. They tell me this coming Sunday they will wrap the car up. Apparently the horn was not working and they just needed to give it a final clean up. It's has already had the final polish. Jim was pretty confident it will be ready for me to pick up after Sunday. If that is the case, I will be down there the following weekend to bring to her home. Sorry for the delay. Michael

Still couple small items to sort. The odometer is not working so I called Palo Alto Speedo and they asked I ship it back to them so they can sort it out. Hartmut said the day it arrives they will get to it and then ship it right back. Great customer service.
My car had a documented mileage of about 89K with a log book that was current so I know it is accurate mileage. As we all know the early Porsche speedos only went to 99,999 and then they rolled over to 00000. I did not want to lose my original mileage so I asked PAS about converting to a later speedo with a 6 digit odometer. So they did that and that converts it to electrical instead of cable driven. So the good news is when the speedometer works the odometer should work as well since it is all within the actual speedometer. So something probably shorted out during all of the work. The horns are now working correctly too.

I also wired in a motorcycle brake light flasher for some added visibility. I'm pretty happy with the result, but I'll clean it up a little when I finally pull the trigger on restoring this beast. Pics below.

That is exactly the idea. We wanted something that was invisible unless you stepped on the brakes. The LEDS are very bright. Andy recalled buying the strips off eBay but that was quite some time ago. Once my car is back in my garage I will take some close-up photos of the install and post them here.
As small as our cars are, and as careless and uncaring as the kids driving their 500HP Mustangs are as they drive, text, chat, vape, take selfies, tweet, etc. with friends in their car, getting rear ended is a real possibility. I want to do all I can to avoid that. Of course insure your car for a stated value should the worse happen and some dip-shit rear end you at 50MPH. Then blame you for driving a small, low car they could not see.

OK, odometer was able to be resolved without sending it out. Bob called and talked with Hartmut and they were able to diagnose and correct the issue. Sunday all they have to do is install the small protector for the oil cooler lines, adjust the headlight covers and wipe the car down. I anticipate, schedules accommodating, picking the car up the first weekend of August just a few days before my birthday!
