Local MD zinc plating company
I used to send ocassional batches of nuts/bolts/brackets/etc. to Jim Ruffi in NJ for yellow zinc chromate plating. His plating site is no longer active and I have about 8-10 lbs of stuff that I need plated.
I'm in Ellicott City - can anyone recommend an individual or company willing to do small batches like this? Andreas

Check with Dorki "Rothaus"
I know he does this plating for his own projects. His website: http://carmagic.us/

This outfit north of Baltimore will do small lots:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/kustomka...hingllc/about/ For the absolute highest quality concours level plating, this is the go to guy, but he is in Boston: http://tru-6.com/ The Kustom Kare folks are nice and plated some stuff for me last year. I was happy with their work. Nonetheless, I do my own plating now. It is not hard, good prep work is the key.

From what I learned from my buddy there is no plater in the state of maryland that does plating on the premesis. The last one was in baltimore city who did a lot of DOD work and got an exemption from the EPA untill his contract ran out with DOD. Then the EPA wanted core samples of the soil underneath the concrete pad of his business.
Same with tru6. All of his work is sublet off of his premesis. |

^ Thank you for all the replies. I'll need to approach a few commercial outfits, as the few quotes I've received are in the $125-$150 range.

If you want it for less, you are going to have to find a plater who does basket plating and will take a small lot from a non-commercial customer. I couldn't find anybody around this area who would. Let us know if you do.

Tru6 primarily tumbles the parts organizes everything by lots and then sublets as stated. Nice work, expensive. Quote:
Looks good Andreas. Just curious, is he using multiple vats or small to medium sized beakers for his process? Thx, Paul
