I saw that car and asked him a few questions but just didn't have the time to go look at it since he just got back to me last night. I fear the ebay car. It does look pretty nice though. He mentioned that it had been in an accident up front but it had been fixed.

I fear eBay cars too unless they are close by and you can look at them. I am amazed sometimes that sellers are often not quick to respond.

Scott -

I have the same car if you are interested. Mine has a whale tail and 993 wheels... Body/Paint/Interior/Motor all in perfect condition. Upgrades include Fabspeed cup intake, K&N Filter, momo course wheel, Bursh cat by-pass pipe and Bursh single in/out muffler. Garage kept 3rd car. No rain or snow for this 911.

PM me if interested

Thanks Mark. However, I just picked up my 2001 Boxster this weekend. I decided an older 911 wasn't the way I wanted to go for a daily driver. I'll save up for one as a second car one day.

I drove that car this weekend.A buddy of mine in Ohio is in the market. So I took it for a test run......and it was pretty solid....Needed some work...nothing than what majority of this crew could not resolve with some love and $$...

Things noted:

Rimms needed some love...A bit on the crusty/rusty side. No significant wear(Tires) from being off balanced or out of alignment...Drove on 395 at 75 let go of steering wheel ...It stayed straight. Handled well around the corners....I did notice some white knuckels with him plus I came very close to red lining her several times..So use to going 80+ in second gear...Ooops...Even for my old man style of driving...Very smooth shifting..

rear window seal will need to be replaced in time.

The front had been in a fender bender...Left/right and hood were replaced..
Inside looked good. Outside the roof was fading...Car was dirty(No big deal)
He did not list it locally...

Did not know what a PPI, but nobody was asking him for one.

OIL LEAK...needs complete engine rebuild...Mechanic from HBL stated. Big spot...but that could be from sitting for the last 6+ months...Engine was really clean...Did not blow smoke upon start up...I felt the engine area it had not been started for awhile...At least since the morning..

User had not gotten it inspected..Did not want to go through the hassle. He was pretty sure it would pass...

Did not see any rust anywhere..

everything worked. Mechanically...

Driver was not really aware of what he had....Was not educated and after our 1 hour discussion...With what little I know....He was getting the hint that he could probably sell her for more if he had done a tad bit of research...and minor cash invested...reserve was set for 15K....I wish I had some money...

He did not have the original Fuch's but he did say "boy everybody has been asking him regarding them"

Also I heard a hissing sound from the front AC condensor (mispoke-Guy informed me that he had the evaporator replaced)...Looked very rusty both the condensor and tubing...The AC worked but not chilly..

he has owned it for 6 years and did not enjoy using her for a DD car...It has been sitting, pretty much for over a year...he has put on 40k mileage on her in 6 years......Too bad it did run nicely...Compared to my car that was a walk in the woods going down hill. Ill think of more...Back to lunch

VAScott,
So do you think that the 15k was a good price considering everything you said including the fact that it needs a "complete rebuild"?

Good informative post by the way.

Thanks,
William

That's a $25k-$30k car to make it perfect. I fear any car that got a $1700 90k mile service at a dealer. Do they even know what air-cooled Porsches are anymore?
