WTB: Aluminum trailer with tire rack and tow vehicle
Anyone have/know of any used *open* aluminum trailers (with a tire rack) for sale? Imma need one.
Suggestions/leads for a good tow vehicle/daily driver welcome! Needs to tow a 977.2 and at least 2 sets of wheels. Thinking VW TDI, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Cayenne Diesel... Willing to trade a sweet 2008 Ford 150 van. d.

Are you looking for an open trailer or an enclosed trailer? If you want open, there's a nice looking Trailex on RL https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1221461. But it's not local.
Also, have you checked the tow rating on the van? Any chance it might work as a tow vehicle until you get something better?

Thanks Bill, looks like a nice trailer! Wish it was closer.
The van doesn't have much torque but it might do in a pinch if I find a trailer first. But I'm trying to sell the van too.

Oh no. Another loss in the rank of the die hards.
I do not know about variants of X5, but I know of someone who was towing with a X5 diesel was unhappy with the sufficiency of the brake and considered power marginal. You can rent a truck for towing. I think one of the car rental company’s has a truck rental unit which allows towing. Good luck looking. RL or racingjunk are good options.

From a tow vehicle perspective I bought a 2012 Q7 TDI about a year and a half ago and love it. It is essentially the same as the Cayenne but with more utility in the back which I need for race ramps and transport of stuff to/from kids college and trips to the lake.
Let me know if you want more details. Good luck with the search.

Agree with Ken about the Q7 TDI. I have a 2014 Q7 TDI and gets 28-30mpg on highway and 16mpg in tow with a Trailex CT-7014+Cayman. Handles well in tow and a pleasure to drive around town.

Thanks, Bill.
Besides making sure my wide body can fit on it (my car is 71-73" wide and this has usable deck width of 75"), any other questions I should ask him? +1 on the Q7! Quote:
