I do but only if you define Shenandoah valley as NOVA. Dixie sheet metal in falls church has done some good aluminum work in the past. 703-533-1111

Look up Scotty B in Charles City. He welded up an aluminum shroud for my car that we needed up using with some slight modifications. The welds he did looked nice.

Heading over to Dixie in a minute.
Been turned down by 2 younger welders so far.
Concern about damaging it. It's a smaller old casting.
It may go back out west with me to the guy who welded up my
1966 911 magnesium Solex manifolds.

I can see why some will pass on a casting. Aluminum casting welding is never a 5 min job. (Well, the first time it gets welded it might be 5 min. The repair of the repair will take a good bit longer) Depending on the alloy, part and work to be done the casting has to be prepped carefully. It has to be cleaned including cooking contamination out then brought up to an even temp before you weld it up. Once welded it is good to wrap it and let it cool slowly.

You're absolutely correct.
5 minutes after it's all set up.
Dixie said maybe, but they're booked up over a week out, so off it goes with me to
Scottsdale, Palm Springs and Riverside for this 3 week work trip.
Cheers, Kurt
