Default Poor Man's Cool Suit

So it was melt-your-face hot at Summit this weekend and I got some questions about my bullet-proof vest and jaunty scarf.

FWIW, here they are.

Techniche Hybrid Elite Sport Cooling Vest--it keeps me cool, not cold. If I put the front 2 ice packs in the vest and keep the other 2 in the cooler on ice, I can rotate them midday and get through 4 runs comfortably.

Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad--I have both the large and the small wraps.

https://www.amazon.com/Frogg-Toggs-C...gateway&sr=8-3

I challenge you to a "Who-wore-it-best" contest at the next DE.

Thanks for the tips. Maybe one day we will have cooling steering wheels. https://newatlas.com/go/7214/

Hands and feet are most effective in thermoregulation in humans.

Thanks Diane! I hope P-Fest isn't as bad. This past weekend was BRUTAL! I don't deal with heat well

Good idea, but wearing nylon anything while doing track events is a bad idea IMO.

Probably. but heat exhaustion in this instance could well need to needing Nomex. I have seen fires never yet in an impact when you might be slow getting out. Pays your money takes your chances, me I would keep cool and less likely to have a problem, but to each there own.

you can easily make an entire cool suit set up with a bilge pump, cooler, shirt, some tubing, a glue gun for well under 75 dollars.

This! A true cool suit; shirt and cooler setup is a marvel of simple design. Mine has saved my life and many a day at the track

But, but, but, you cannot wear/run a cool suit walking around the paddock.
one may choose not wear one while driving, but even keeping your core temperature down a few degrees outside the car would be helpful to reduce fatigue.

Whatever happened to the piezoelectric system, which eliminates the need to carry a water reservoir? Seemed like the up-and-coming solution about 8 years ago...
