Default Need more garage space

Today’s question is how do we make the best use of the space we have?

Standard 20’ x 20’ two car suburban garage with a high lift door.

Top of the ceiling is 110”

It is possible to knock down the wall to the right of the silver car and add another bay.

Any thoughts/ideas on the best way to fit three or eventually four cars in the limited space we have before we resort to drastic measures?

The odd man out.

1) A good question would be what is OVER the garage? Could you raise the ceiling height to allow for lifts to fit in 4 cars?
2) How about storage below ground level with an elevator? Seen it done but it's not cheap...
3) Forget about changing the garage because you know you're going to sell both cars soon!

Do the bump out to the right side and if possible add some depth to the rear. Then the less frequently used car can be parked sideways behind the front two. Also, if you increase the ceiling height of the bump out to at least 10 feet, you can store an additional car by using a lift.

Feel free to bring any of the cars to my place and leave it with me. I have plenty of space!

Basement level + a car elevator. Make the basement big enough for a few more so you can stash them where your wife will not see them.

Based only on the one external image he has an attached garage of a build time frame that has a truss roof. Adding an inch would require removal of the roof and truss system.
If legal in your area bump out one full bay with a vaulted ceiling and add a 4 post type lift.

Going down is stunningly expensive, fraught with problems from engineering to moisture and code entanglements. No added value for service ether.

I'll provide free consulting on the waterproofing. Added value is cars are hidden from his wife, who keeps making him sell his cars.

No room for a bump behind the garage. That is my wife’s swimming pool

The garage is a side load, it is on the left in this picture, see below.

You have an eye for details, semi attached, with a truss roof.

The picture below should provide a better orientation.

We also have some room behind the trees at the end of the driveway for a second garage.

Getting that past the powers that be...let’s just say it would be easier to purchase another car

Vice, I like your idea of a third bay with a vaulted ceiling and lift.

Any other thoughts/ideas?

Easiest sounds like a side bump out /addition to the right of the GT3.

Remove turnaround space at top of drive

Is there room at the top before fence/tree line in front of the Acura?

Or add a front load garage where the Acura is and link to standing garage at the existing door?
Growing up we had a freestanding garage that was 2 wide and 2 deep.

Buy smaller cars?

It all depends on zoning regulations and setbacks.

If they allow for expansion either Vicegrip’s of racer’s ideas are great!

For me I was limited to 550 sq/ft (even less than that in current zoning limits).
