I’ve been keeping my 96 318ti for my sons. Neither like driving stick, and it’s got a pretty wonky shifter now, but I think in the long run it will do them good to learn to deal with a beater.

I’d suggest looking at the auctions in BelAir. An Oldsmobile is a simple tool that has great potential for cheap running.

Knock a zero off that price and I've got just the Volvo for you. Unless you want ABS. And air bags. And rust free. And under 200,000 miles. And fuel that hasn't turned to varnish. But other than that stuff it's great. Except for the leaky brake line and dead battery, but I'd fix that for you, no extra charge.

A friend gave us a 2001 Nissan Frontier 4wd stick. 280,000 miles. a rusted through brake line parked it for a year before they realized they did not need it and did not want to fix it. Trailered it home. Sorted the brakes. Rebuilt the rusty gas tank, barged the battery and slapped on some “Farm Use” plates. The Boy loves it and farm use let’s him drive it a bit. The PO took good care of it. Fluids were all good as were the brake pads and rotors. Road salt did not take good care of it. Will plate it when the Boy gets his DL.

Sweet ride, I'm sure he'll enjoy it. But, trailer it home?! Come on, you are getting soft!

Epic2112 - sounds like a sweet ride, if that hulk is a manual....

Alas, the kid now has a spanking old mid 2000's accord. And of course it failed inspection so I have some work ahead of me.

Thanks everyone
