Default The BxstrS is dead
Sad week, folks. On the way home Saturday from last weekend's DE on Summit Main, and only a mile from home, #37 '05 Boxster S (White group) suffered an IMS failure, despite having the L&N upgrade only 10k miles ago. Bottom of the engine seems ok, but the valves and intermediate shaft are trashed, and the rebuild costs exceed the value of the car. If anyone has any better ideas, please respond, but as of now its headed to Porsche heaven. The car is at Intersport if anyone wants to check it out

Sorry to hear.

But it seems like a candidate for a used motor transplant. Not sure why it needs to go to Porsche heaven, as you can sell as-is and probably get $5k or more depending on suspension, etc.

Contact Jeff Curtis (NASA Mid Atlantic Chief Instructor). He specializes in buying, selling, and building Boxster's. Look for his Facebook page 757 Porsche Parts Posse. Maybe you can make a deal with him for a used engine or maybe he can buy your body & parts. BTW--I also know someone who crashed their Boxster racecar this weekend at Dominion. He has a good engine. Let me know if you want to exchange contact info.
