Default Wanted: BMW or Other Wagon

Greetings All,

It is time for my 16 year old to learn to drive and get a car. Since she plays the string bass, she needs a car big enough to carry her instrument.

To avoid "blah" car syndrome, I thought we would get her an older BMW, Mercedes, or another unusual wagon. I'd figure I would start here.

Anyone have a good older wagon for sale, or a good place to look for a solid car? Manual or auto, as she IS learning to drive a stick shift.

Thanks for any leads!

My song played the bass (loaned by the school) and we just chucked it in the back of my pick up. (It was a short ride).

Good luck with the search.

While not for sale, we bought an older Audi A4 wagon for similar reason (son is a long pole defender in lacrosse - 6ft long sticks!)

Plenty of Jetta wagons out there too.. GLWTS!

You can find an old Cayenne cheap. Rear seats fold down and it's a tank.

Miata is always the answer, unless you need to carry something. Then its a fo fo.

Don't go too much older. The most valuable think in that car is your daughter - safety features are prime!

Do not get an e46 wagon.... Unless you like doing a lot of repair work or have deep pockets to pay someone to fix it.

I put over 320K miles on a B6 A4 Wagon, 1.8T with a 5 spd. It was a great car. One of my local friends bought it and it's still going. I think it's at around 340K miles.

I'm not sure if a string bass will fit in a 2006 BMW 325i with the rear seats down. But I'm selling a nice 325i with a proper stick shift. Come on over with the bass and we can try it
