Cold or hot?
Like I said, I had much more predictable cornering at the lower pressures. I even passed a couple of cars after that.

That said, I'd sure like to try a set of RA1's to compare...

I'll let you know after next weekend driving on the new track. On the old surface I was in 2nd in 1-2 and 5. 3rd in 3, 9 and 10 going to 4th right at track out. New surface = higher speeds = different gears.

Tim,
What run group are you in? Driving street tires is a great way to learn to drive the track, at somewhat slower (safer) speeds and with more predictable loss of control, and more feedback. Since Ben was in DE this year, we both ran street tires, and I think my driving improved significantly going back to them. We start our Toyo T1-R (rear) T1-S (front) street tires similar to you: cold pressure 29F and 32R. The wear indicator on your tires shows you are rolling the tire just about right. Of course, I only talk like an expert - others on this board know much more than I do.

I'll be in Green as I haven't run yet with Potomac and STILL WAITLISTED for the Nov DE, so I'm getting my seat time where I can. Hopefully I can still be half fast by the time I get with Potomac.

T1 3rd (2nd.. now, maybe 3rd if grip is as advertised)
T2-3 4th (3rd at T-2 exit, or 4th as above, 3rd at entrence to T-4)
Chute 4th (4th)
T5 3rd (3rd)
T8-9 4th (4th)
T10- 4th (3rd - IMO 4th is way scary if going fast)

Patience. If you try RA1's you're going to have a hard time going back, and you'll drive better a year from now if you wait.

Shift when your motor needs you to shift. There are some guys who watch a few videos and shift where the person does in the video, or based on what others have said. The only problem is that if they are not driving as fast, it just means that they are short-shifting, which makes them even slower. No names have been mentioned in order to protect the innocent.

Ditto on TD. If you're taking turns 3, 9 and 10 in 4th in an SC because you're up at 6200 in 3rd gear, you're ready for RA-1s. And then some.
