Default 993 immobilizer blocker group buy on RL

A RLer put together a pretty neat solution to the stupid immobilizer on the 993: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...zer-block.html

(I'm not affiliated but am a beta tester. It's cool.)

Thanks! I've asked to be added to the list. I'm presuming it works on all year 993's? I have a 1995.

Hmmm.....my experience with the 993 not very deep yet. But now I'm wondering if our car even has the immobilizer. Is there a definitive way to identify whether the car is so equipped? I only have keys for it; no remote.

Tony, you'd know if you have it - you have to press the remote to start the car if it's been sitting onlicked. Sounds like you have a very early car?

your 1995 shouldn't have an immobilizer -- my car is a 95 and does not.

If you had an immobilizer you would have either a flip-key with remote integrated or a separate remote.

be glad you don't have it, the immobilizer in my grandfather 1996 cab almost left us stranded when the battery in the fob had enough juice to lock the car and arm the immobilizer, but not enough to unlock and disarm the immobilizer

"Late" model build 1995 993s have the immobilizer. IIRC, the old race car was an April 1995 build, and it had it. It also lacked the third brake light basket handle and used the ROW back light-mounted TBL.

Many people seem to hate the immobilizer, but it's hardly ever bothered me. Current 1996 993 has it.

Thanks all! I don't have a remote, so I guess I don't have the immobilizer.

I've gotten used to it but keep a spare battery in the glove box since the whole process of the battery going dead and unlocking the car and getting it to start is a PITA. This would be a welcome modification.
