^ true dat. The euro cars use a different version. Whose parts are getting even harder to get than the US version.

Yes, all SCs were 3.0s and had CIS. Euro cars have "euro CIS" which, like DR said, has different and harder to find/more expensive parts. But 81-83 Euro cars have 201hp engines vs 180hp for the US versions. Euro Carreras are the ones to have IMO - 231 hp and Motronic.

Good to meet you too. The thing about old 911 A/C is that it always sucked even when new. It's 100% an afterthought for that car and just kinda hacked in there by the factory to shut up the Americans who keep whining for it. Of course, I'd like to see the Germans spend a summer in Florida w/o A/C.

Re: OP’s search, check out ‘88 Carrera auction on BAT. Although it’s lacking HVAC, looks like a nice trackable driver.

The previous owner(s) spent some time getting the AC cold in my car. It has three freaking condensers, along with a 964 dash for the bigger center vent, and vents below the ashtray to freeze my legs. I was really impressed after hearing all the horror stories of old 911 AC. So I guess it is possible to get something good working.

However, I’m trying to make a lightweight go kart. So that’s a lot of weight I could remove. But it works. But it’s heavy. But I like not sweating on the way to work...

More related to the OP, Dennis mentioned to me Marty(?) has a 911 with a 3.6 he’s selling. Wish I knew that before I bought mine since my ultimate goal is a 3.6 conversion.

Thanks for the leads on BAT; I hadn’t seen those the last time I was there. The ‘88 looks promising.

Did you see the this one? Thoughts? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...11-carrera-13/

And who is Marty with this 3.6 conversion?

Definitely not. Don’t mind doing it on a fofo or a 996 but no way, no how am I going to put an LS in an air cooled 911.

This does not fit your criteria but may be worth a look.

Sorry missed the automatic.
