Anyone with strong religious feelings they would like to evangelize? Seriously, recommendations from folks that track Boxsters much appreciated. Anyone recommend running square? Thanks for your input!
Any thoughts here? I saw a post from somebody elsewhere that he was running 275s square - wow.

Since I now have access to the garage I'm going to finally be able to get to work on this bad boy! My plan is to get the brake system replaced tonight and tomorrow. Rotors, Pads, SS Lines, GT3 Master Cylinder, -Dust Shields, +GT3 Brake Ducts, Bleed Valves, +Ti shims, Wilwood EXP 600 going back in. I'll take a look at the condition of the pistons to see if a rebuild is necessary. Also get a gander at the E-Brake for same.

If things go smoothly I will also tackle to oiling system. Drop the oil pan, assess, +Mantis deep pan, +987 Swirl Post, +LN spin on filter. JG DT40 going back in. I'll add the Accusump later as a separate project unless I can wrangle Friday off as well...

While it is up on the lift I'll take a look around and assess any other potential issues necessary for the Tech Inspection Saturday.

No input on wheels/tires so far. I will do a wheel sweep diagram although this will need to be redone after the suspension project. I received the 318 kit from RSS so I have everything except the camber plates and they have shipped. Actually looking at 255 or 265 square with MPSCs at the moment. I'll know more after the sweep diagram +/- a fender roll.

If you are keeping the stock calipers, increasing the size of the master cylinder will increase required pedal pressure and reduce braking power.

I would think that going with same tires all around (what I assume you mean by square) would result in a car that oversteers at the slightest hint. I've driven a couple boxsters now, Angela's and someone I instructed at HPDC, and I think they're squirrely enough as it is. I'd hate to have one that wanted to oversteer.

Bob,

That was my wife that you instructed in the red Boxster S with the oversteer. Dialed back on the stiffness from 3 to a 5 on the rear PSS9's and it went away.

roundel: The squishy, soft pedal was what I was trying to remedy so the stiffer pedal is desirable. I'm not sure why that leads to reduced braking power. That said perhaps I will leave out the GT3 master cylinder this go round and reassess after the DE given this particular car is new to me and having fresh, bled fluid will provide a reasonable test. I can change it next flush if it still makes sense.

Bob: My research so far shows many people and series using the square setup and addressing the car balance through the rest of the suspension. It also allows you to swap front to rear and get a little more out of a set of tires. That's the thinking.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's about mechanical advantage. The GT3 booster will push more fluid. Sounds good, but the result is that you are loosing leverage. Think of it like using a shorter handle wrench. For each inch at your hand, you turn the nut more, but with less torque.
Solve your squishiness by choosing good pads, new caliper seals sans slop, and bleed out bubbles.
