Default Autobahn in Bethesda

Does anyone have experience with Autobahn Motor Works in Bethesda? My office just moved to the neighborhood, so they would be convenient, but I don't know anything about them.

Thanks.

Might want to do a search. Autobahn hosts a tech session for PCA Potomac every year, and the owner (Jose?) seems to have a decent list of DE drivers as customers. I have never used the shop, but I have heard some happy customer stories.

Depending on what work you need done, we're a group of DIYers and could help you with a lot of things.

Thanks David. I think Jose is at Autobahn in Fairfax. There is also an Autobahn Motor Works in Bethesda which I assume is independent of the FX shop, or are they related?

As for the work I need, I've had a problem with the starter not stopping when I turn the key off. From info I've picked up it could be the ignition switch or the starter getting hung up, so I need a little diagnostic work that is beyond my abilities. If you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Shoot -- I think I was confusing them with the shop out in Gaithersburg... Sorry about that

Now that you have posted your issue, I'm sure you will get some good responses, although you may want to start a separate thread for it.

They have worked on my old BMW for years. They are pretty good at getting things right and will redo work when they don't. I believe they are owned by one the Steffanelli family . The family owns several gas stations in the area (Getty and Shell on River Rd. at least) and are involved in the community, so they back up their work.

Having said that, I've not used them for the P cars except for cleaning and waxing (back when I was working and didn't always have time).

Thanks Jim. I'll probably give them a try on my ignition / starter problem.

I work near there too.
Andy Steffanelli lives up here in Darnestown and is a freind.
I think they are good for typical maintenance and routine repairs, but are not a strict p-car shop. I recommended someone to go there and he wasn't happy. I think that was mostly because of communication in terms of what was expected.
They are a service shop that work on many makes and models. If you want the best p-car specific go to Matt De-maria in G-berg.
For maintenance, they are very capable. And now convienant for you.
I think they will be able to solve your problem.
Good luck!

My drive from Montrose and Tower Oaks to Matt's shop was 12 minutes. If I get stuck in Gaithersburg (or if there's a train) that can add 8 minutes, but it's really close to Bethesda driving-wise.

Has anyone used that shop near the Airpark (Autothority?)? We had a DE tech there each of the past 2 years.

Autothority is up in Maryland now? They used to be in Fairfax. They were a tuner shop and had different packages for the 996 -- exahust, headers, intakes, chipping, etc. -- and used to advertise on Excellence and Panorama. They closed the Fairfax shop a couple of years ago after being bought out by Pitstop in Alexandria.
