Default Sort of a BMW - '22 BMYota Supra

I'm torturing our definition of a Porsche/BMW forum with this one, but a '22 Supra 3.0 Premium came home with me this week. Clearly, this will be a better candidate for OLOA than the 944LS. There were quite a few of them at OLOA this year, and that was an influence. It has 44 miles on it at the moment, but I'll put 100 on it today commuting to Baltimore and back.

Way cool

I keep holding out hope to compare it to the new Z, if it ever gets here.

I like the red interior. Interesting that there is red on the driver’s side door but not the passenger’s side door. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

I was waiting on someone to mention that. It is intentional. Some of their marketing material talks about "wrapping the driver in red" Do I like it? Not really, but not enough to do anything about it.

I wanted white with all black interior, but that was impossible to find. Almost all the cars have the red interior, so it was down to this "tungsten" silver car at Sheehy in Laurel and a white car at Ourisman in Chantilly. Ourisman had $3K of markup that they would not negotiate off of. Sheehy sold it for MSRP. Now, Sheehy adds on some of their own markup stuff (VIP service, interior protection goop), but I could at least negotiate that down.

I was also pretty serious about the Golf R, but there were NONE available last weekend, and the markup on those was insane. King VW was asking $16K of markup...and getting it.

I was impatient, but I feel like I should have waited until I drove one. I like the looks of the Supra over the Z, but that's purely subjective stuff.

It's in the process of liquidation. Since everything is in TX, that makes it very, very complicated. Both the shop building the car (HotRodz of Dallas) and the 944 swap kit vendor (Texas Performance Concepts) are working with me.

All the TPC swap parts and the new GM parts used in the swap are going back to TPC and being resold as new...because they are.

The car itself was Kent at TPC's personal 944, so he's working to find a buyer.

The suspension (used Moton triple-adjustables), the transaxle (rebuilt 968 w/ factory LSD and taller 3-6 gears from a European diesel Audi), and the engine (LS1/LS7 stroker) will likely go up on the 944 swap forums, Rennlist, etc. Those will take time to move unless I just take a bath on all of them. With the shiny silver thing in my garage now, I can't do that.

Considering that I just lived for a 10 days in a Cayman with a 6'4" guy...I have knowledge of such things.

Yep, it's tight. A popular option for the OLOA Supra guys was to use one of the suction cup racks and a small roof-top box. I was extremely skeptical of the suction cup racks before OLOA, but they seem to be safe, reliable, and in wide use in that crowd. One of the guys with a GT3RS used a suction cup bike rack for the whole trip.
