A few more little things done.

I finished the front hubs, they are ready for new bearings, etc.

I'm still waiting for a few items to come in for the front brake setup.

Also finished the spring plates.

Another little project was to restore the front and rear hood locks.

All disassembled and ready to clean up.

Grit blasted and ready for plating.

Finish plated and ready for assembly

All assembled and ready.

Since I will use the fuse box of the later model car, I also started to sort out the wire harness between the dash and fuse box.

Most of the wires I will replace. They are old and some of them are stiff and the insulation is getting brittle.

I made new left and right outer harness for the headlight/blinker. I also added a wire for the DRL included in the LED headlights. Also some of the other wire setups already complete.

Here the inside harness from the fuse box to the headlight/blinker.

Old.

Pretty ugly

The plugs at right is the only piece I will reuse.

Once the sleeving comes in, I will complete them.

There was only one relay next to the old fuse box for the horn. With the new fuse box I will have space for many relays. I will use the original relay mounts, so I will have relays at the fuse box for horn, low beam, high beam, Oil cooler fan, and whatever else is needed.

Cheers
Engelbert

How are you plating these parts? Are you doing it yourself or having a shop do it. I'm guessing that you're doing it yourself. Did you buy a kit from somewhere, or did you piece your setup together?

When I finally get back to working on the 914, I'd like to be able to do this myself.

BTW, fantastic work!

I do it myself. Take a look at this http://www.southsandia.com/forum/web...ncplating.html

I used it to get started, and fine tuned it a bit, but it's basically how I do it. I got a small power supply, so I can adjust V and Amp.

Cheers

I got a few other pieces done for the 911.

Restored the wiper assembly. I'm using a later version of the wiper system, so I will also have the intermittent option.

I also made a complete new wire harness for the wiper system.

I finished the front hubs, and coated them with Cerakote. The dust caps are zinc plated.

Blasted and powder coated the dust shields for the front and rear brakes.

The 911 will get Aero Power mirrors, so I had to sort that out and make sure all is working.

I also had to cut the hole in the driver door for the mirror control switch.

Next, also some addition: Power windows.

Sorting out the wiring:

And here the finished harness.

I also got the fiber glass roof skin bonded.

This time the car will get rear 911R style lights. I had to modify the inserts to make sure the fit right.

I also installed studs, so there will no screws visible from the outside.

More to come.

Cheers
Engelbert

Time for an update.

I sprayed some primer.

I used epoxy primer for the bare metal and some polyester primer for the fiber glass sections.

After the primer was done I moved to the green. I did the trunk, inside, engine bay, and under side.

A lot of masking what I don't paint at the time.

After that I left it alone for a while, since I also worked on another little project, finishing the last section of our basement with framing, insulating, sheetrock, Laminate floor, etc, etc.

I also painted the dash area satin black. Installed the steering column.

Last week I started to assemble the suspension, so it can actually rolled around.

Next I will spend some time checking all primed section for any imperfections, now is the time to do it.

Cheers
Engelbert

Those rotors look a LOT larger than stock. What are you doing for brakes?

BTW, amazing job, as usual.
