Thanks for all the info. So far I haven't heard of any more issues, but I'm guessing the pump hasn't been turned off since I left. I'll most likely get over there Friday or Saturday, so will see how things are going and get some pictures of everything while I'm there.

As I suspected, everything is running great right now. But, no one has touched it since the last time I was here. I’ll probably try shutting the filter off today just to see what happens.

I did get a few pictures:

Red arrows are the jets from the filter. Yellow is where the robot vacuum plugs in to its pump. Purple is the skimmer basket.

Pump/filter is 15 feet or so from the pool, slightly uphill.

I was over at my mother-in-law's for a swim with the kids today. With all the rain recently, the water level had gotten too high, so I used the "Waste" setting on the filter to lower the level a bit. As far as I know, the pump has been running continuously since 6/21, when I cleaned the gasket on the cover and sealed with silicone. Both times that I just the pump off today, it came back on with no issues. So hopefully that fixed it, but we'll see as the summer goes on.

My pool pumps are on a timer 8 mornig to 7 in evening and polaris/robot around 9 to 1. I do run 24 hours for 2 or 3 days when initially opening. My system is old!!

I think this system is probably 15-20 years old. They used to run the pump on a timer, but a couple of years ago when they started running into issues with the pump not restarting, they just ran it 24/7. I'd like to get back to where it runs on a timer instead of 24/7, but need to make sure it is restarting properly first.

A property sealed up above ground system is less expensive than 2X energy costs.

Usually ~8hrs/day works here but when the water is so warm its more like 10-12, algae is on a rampage.

Anyone having problem finding chlorine? My usual spots are dried up and the pool store wants double the cost. Costco, Sams, Walmart, and Home Depot all out.

Big shortage of solid forms of Cl. 3 inch tabs went from $100 for a 50 pound tub to $75 for 8 pounds. Double is cheap. Large US manu went off line and everyone got an above ground pool last spring. You can find it online but you are going to pay for it in the short term. Invest in UV stabilizer if you cant find or don't use triclor.
