930 project
Ok, I picked up a 930 last year.
TL/DR rundown: '84 euro 930 (rauchquartzmetallic 662) Non sunroof aftermarket Slopenose conversion (clearcoat is BADLY spider webbed and needs full strip & respray) motor rebuilt by TPC to 3.6L w/ LOTS of power goodies totally stock everything else Orig plan was to convert the ugly duckling back to a regular fender 930 and go original. 930s have climbed in value so I didn't want to go too crazy with it. I've been trying to trackdown real 930 steel fenders for about a year and have been coming up short. Have a WTB post on pelican but only gotten a couple hits. Those guys seem to turn out to be mostly flakes So now I'm being tempted to just buy some Getty carbon fenders to get on the car for now. That can start a slippery slope(!) however. So... what to do with it? Needs suspension *BADLY*. Worn out and flat out scary to drive. Don't want to turn it into a track car. So the only two options I'm considering are: 1) Elephant rubber bushings 2) Elephant polybronze on lower arms, monoball rear inner, rubber everywhere else #1 is nice but #2 IMO really going a a long way in controlling toe change and vastly adds confidence driving. Remember the car is making far more hp now so I'm leaning #2. But I've never driven a 911 w/ fresh rubber bushings either. Came w/ new 22/29 torsion bars not yet installed. Those seem like a decent combination. If I do those suspension upgrades, it should be a fairly nice driver. Then comes the temptation... Motor: Its' been down to TPC already for a tuneup. Luckily the CIS is still working fine. I inquired about EFI because IMO it just kicks ass compared to carbs or CIS. Tom says just going to a 3.2L intake manifold will add a good chunk of hp due to the non-restrictive flow around the elbow and being able to store a full cylinder charge in the runner. Hmm, I already have a spare 3.2 intake. Damn. And once I do that, could add twin plug for even more power and reliability. Hmm, I can twin plug my own heads. Damn. You see where this is going... Motor internals aren't stock anymore so no harm making it better. Luckily motor stuff can come a little at a time or hold off indefinitely. Body: If I'm buying composite front fenders, its just as easy to order long hood versions. Add new hood+bumper to the order, weld on an extension to the hood release latch and can have a fairly painless RSR look. I would have jumped at this 10yrs ago. Though I'm currently thinking its better just to leave looking stock. Plus if I buy regular turbo fenders, until paint day arrives I can always keep looking for real metal 930 fenders and sell the others. I have upgraded all exterior bulbs/lighting to LEDs + new rear euro lenses. I'm probably going to fab some sort of LED CHMSL. Car is small, people are stupid, and the LED brake lights aren't a huge improvement. Just don't want to get hit. Either tuck inside at the top of the rear window or hide behind the roof vent slots above the window.

You need boxed rockers...I know someone that has a set
I actually like the slopenose cars, 80's goodness. My brother loves the Elephant rubber bushings he got installed on his car! That and restoring to the stock euro ride height made it drive and handle great.

As a member of the peanut gallery, and it's not my money I'm spending, I too like the slope nose; the 80's vibe is strong with this one! As you've said, have it prepped and resprayed and drive it like you stole it. Great car!

Unless it’s a 935, the slantnose is horrible to my eyes. Don’t forget to fix the holes in the rear fenders.
I have polybronze on my 911 with mono balls at banana arm top. They are creakey. Feel best when pushed. So if you’re ok with some flexy groany noises, you will enjoy the Polybronze Nice get! I drove a tobacco colored one with some supposed Ruf Motor bits. Owner claimed 600 hp. I thought he was high before I drove it. After a couple seconds of lag, it started pulling and PULLING! Totally unique experience.

Speaking as someone who has that torsion bar combo and the Elephant rubber set up, I'd go that route. It's not super hard-edged, but it'll hold the road. If you decide to go above 400 or 450 on the motor work, it might not keep up though. TPC built mine before I got it, and I'm pretty pleased with the results.
As stated earlier in the thread, if you want steam roller 15 inch gold 3 piece BBS RS wheels and boxed rockers for it, I may know a guy.

Have two pair already. One steel, one glass.

Thank for all the feedback on the bushings guys. Speaking of wheels, the current 9"+245 rears prob isn't going to cut it. Contemplating going to 18" simply due to the availability of rubber. 16" pickings are getting extremely thin. Current rubber is mismatched and needs to be replaced.

As someone who wants to do the same, what is your plan to address it?

My $0.02 as a fellow 930 owner:
Please don't backdate that car. Or if you do then figure out how to get a custom intercooler under a stock style ducktail or go the non-intercooled route under a non-spoiler lid. Put the body back to stock (or stock ish) and focus on the suspension and drivetrain. Or just leave the body as is and add the boxed rockers. Yes to a LED CHMSL. I run 18" wheels on mine due to tire availability and wanting custom offsets. If the car doesn't have a WB02 sensor and gauge in place I'd add one. It's nice to know what's going with AFRs with these CIS turbo engines. Nice car!
