Plugged Tire at DE?
I found a screw in my left rear Michelin PS4 tire on my C2S.
I will probably replace it anyway for safety, but would a properly plugged tire (plugged from the inside) be acceptable for DE?

Typically yes. (assumes a street tire, and less then Red Group speeds)

And location of plug well away from the sidewalls?

Agree and this is Paul's view, too (Radial Tire Paul). So long as the plug is in the tread and properly applied, it's good for DE or race.

Thanks guys.
The screw is in a treadblock, not the sidewall. May just go ahead and replace it, but keep the plugged tire for later use.

Paul at Radial tyre is a very experienced racer and performance tyre guru, I would not be concerned at all if he personally did the plugging. He has done that for me in the past.

Tire Repaired
Today I drove up to Radial Tire (where I purchased the tires initially).
Paul inspected the tire and personally installed a plug. It is some sort of super plastic plug. He uses it for street and racing tire repairs. He said I should have no concerns taking it on the track. I'll drive on it over the next few weeks to see how it does.

Now that I've gone to the Dark Side, I've had a chance to watch Paul win his class in quite a few races! Good idea to listen to Paul instead of some guy only Vu knows... (well, he is Treasurer of PCA, and apparently an approved PCA tech site - welcome to the board, New Yorker).

Tires fail on track from time to time. We take that risk as a given knowing before we go ontrack that there is a known chance that a tire can fail. Do you replace any tires that were tracked at higher or lower than proper pressure? Those and other things like improper camber, overloading and overheating are known paths to reduced carcass life. It is the failure of the carcass that causes the high drama on track events.
