I've seen a few decent deals on cargurus, but most of at least ~150+ miles away.

I'm giving AutoTempest a try lately, as it's just an aggregator of most of the big used car shopping sites. Interface is a little clunky, but it does give you a whole bunch of results with just one search.

Check autotrader.com and cars.com, though cars.com is primarily dealers.
Also there are a few nationwide craigslist search engines, but little functionality for filtering I have a feeling in a few months there will be some good deals due to the recent market decline and layoffs.

PCA Mart is a good place to look for quality pre-owned cars from private sellers.

Intersport doesn't normally stock used 981s but they have searched auctions for me in the past. Perhaps you may want to call Omar and see if he can find what you are looking for. Yes, he needs to add his profit to the price but I often find that is worth paying for to get exactly what I want.

Similar to above, make friends with shops and have them let you know if they have any customers interested in selling that might not be listed.
A friend recently got a 993 this way and it’s how I found my previous M3.

The "good" cars never hit the market. It's a who you know type of thing. Put out feelers. May take awhile.
My guess s that overall sales numbers for 981s are quite small and those who decide to sell are even fewer. Since the 981 was the last of the flat 6 engines, some folks feel they are worth more. Then you get to the myriad of options and special trim packages and what you want vs what is available shrinks again. Major search engines as you've mentioned are the alternative. Or look for a 718. From a performance perspective it's a better car. Might be cheaper too.

It took me forever to find my 981S (well, 6 months) and still had to settle for white over red. It's very hard to find well equipped cars probably due to the price Porsche charges up front for options. I'd go on Rennlist 981 forum and put a feeler out there. I'd also set up alerts on every car site to send you an email/text when something shows up.
