Default Son's Birthday Ride

I'm looking for some help.

My son is turning 7 in September and he wants to have a Porsche themed birthday. This is a little unusual to his parents who are not car people and don't own a Porsche. He on the other hand can name them by model when we see one on the street.

But for all his passion for Porsches,, he had never actually seen one in person let alone ride in one. We're wondering if anyone would like to make a young boy's birthday dream come true and give him a short ride in a Porsche. Honestly, he'd be ecstatic with a ride around the block or around a parking lot - and we'd happily come to wherever you are located to make it as simple as possible.

If anyone would like to help us out, please let us know.

PCA Potomac has a couple events at Summit Point that you son may really like to see. On September 7 there is a High-Performance Driving Clinic" where 25+ people will be doing on-track exercises such as slalom (steering),braking and skid pad (car control), so there will be a lot of Porsches around in the paddock area as well as on track for him to watch. Arranging for a ride on the local roads at some point in the day should be pretty easy (assuming you have a booster seat that is easily transferable).

Even better, on September 20-22 we have the annual Club Race. This is a chance to see over 125 Porsche race cars in the paddock and watch a lot of 20-25 minute races, as well as enduros on Sunday. A very, very cool experience for a 7 year old.

And while it's a ways out, on October 19 we have a 'Tech Session' in Merrifield, where we should be inspecting 30-40 cars that will be participating in a track event the following weekend. It's a great chance to see a lot of cars up on lifts, etc. We do allow minors at these events -- there is just a separate 'minor participation waiver' you need to sign in addition to the normal insurance waiver.

Recommend you visit www.pcapotomac.org to see all the events we have. There are 'Drive and Dines', concourse events, monthly breakfasts, autocrosses, etc. in addition to the track stuff. Plenty of interesting stuff for a kid that has an interest in Porsches.

Also, once a year the PCA national HQ in Columbia, Md has a big 'open house' event with lots of activities out in the parking lot.

Edit. ^ what he said.

When in Sept? On Sep 20/21/and 22 Potomac PCA will be hosting a club race at Summit Point. Porsche club, Potomac and Club Race are all family friendly. Club Race is free to see, friendly and packed with 100's of Porsche cars from dead stock to full on race cars. No muss no fuss no pit passes needed. You all can walk all around the paddock and see the cars being prepped then watch races from many places around the track. The track is active almost all day between practice qualifying and races so there is plenty of opportunity to see Porches zooming around the track.

Summit is an easy 80 min drive from DC.

If your son is a Porsche nut, the Club Race will be one of the greatest experiences of his life. A whole parking lot full of Porsches, both street and race cars, and many great vantage points to watch the race. Highly, highly recommended.

Couple tips - its all outdoors, so bring water, sunscreen, hats.

In addition at the Club Race in September they are having Charity Parade laps , any vehicle with seat belts is allowed on track behind a pace car. Quite likely someone will happily put him in a seat to have a ride around the track in a Porsche. I believe Sunday will have parade laps for public.

There is also an Autocross at Bowie Baysox Stadium this coming Sunday (18 Aug). Quite a bit closer to DC than Summit Point and sooner too. There will be a wide variety of Porsches there, and most participants will be quite happy to let him look at and even sit in their cars.

Probably can't give him an actual autocross ride, due to the lawyers, but should be able to get him some rides around the parking lot. Plus, it's free for spectators.

If you look here: https://pcapotomac.org/activities/au...hedule-article , you can see the schedule and locations.

Be careful. This Porsche thing is a slippery slope.
