Default FS: 1986 951 Zermatt Silber Super Clean $10k

******BUMP************

******Update. Asking $4k*******
Been talking to Ivan a bit more on the car's situation. While we know it needs a new turbo [relative easy and inexpensive fix], which could resolve the issue, he feels that the rings may need replacing. Making this car a great candidate for:

1) someone who walled their car and wants a clean shell for their engine.
2) go big engine rebuild
3) engine swap 968 or LS [I dont judge]

*****Update. Lowing price to $5k******

The car has been at IMA troubleshooting the non-start issue. I had the ECU/DME repaired [replace some capacitors, addressed the corrosion etc] for a pretty penny. Still would not start.

It was discovered that the turbo seals are shot and it is throwing too much oil into the engine preventing it from getting proper compression. The shop was able to put a thickening agent into the cylinders and it fired right up and drove strong. Once driven more oil gets into the engine and it won't start again.

That said, this 951 is due for a new turbo. Excellent excuse for an upgrade.

Other work done since the original post:
I have had some decent amount of work done at IMA since posting the car for sale with the intent on enjoying it until it sold. All work done by IMA in Chantilly.

Oil and filter change
Brake fluid flush
Timing and accessory belt replaced
Ball joints replaced
All wheel bearings repacked
Alignment
VA inspection [last month]
Odometer gear replaced soon after posting for sale [done by me]
Replaced the dash bulbs and repaired the reflective coating to improve brightness [done by me]

The 'gotcha' After driving the car back from IMA last month and parking it for an hour....it now refuses to start. It wants to start, but it just wont. You will need a trailer to get it home.

Time has come to part ways with my ’86 Zermatt Silber 951. I simply do not have the time to play with it like I used to and want to. My plan was to get it prepped for HPDE’s at Summit Point, but I have decided to go another direction. To that I want to get it to someone who can enjoy it, track it, cars & coffee it….

It has been garage kept since 2003, shortly after I got it.

#1 selling feature – THE CLOCK WORKS!!!!!!

Highlights of what has been done.
Top end rebuild
Brake flush and oil change [last month]
Koni yellow adjustable shocks all around
#250 lb H&R springs
Ported / Polished / o-ring head with WFHG
Tial 38 Wastegate
Replaced all vacuum lines
Zeitronix
….more than I care to add the bills up for and tell the wife about.

Full disclosure, the odometer / trip meter stopped clocking just recently. It currently reads 138,111, but I would say I have only put less than 50-miles since.

I will include all spare parts and new not-yet-installed parts I have
Kuehl R134a deluxe conversion kit
Oil filter
Original chips
Stainless steel brake lines
Spare hatch glass with frame
Custom car cover
The original steering wheel [needs to be restitched]
Various tools [including the tools to replace the belts], manuals, CDs

$10K = fair price for a nice car.
Not looking to trade unless you have a lower mileage BMW E61 [535xi wagon], then you will get my attention.

It looks like I need to resize my picts before I can upload them. Here is a link to them on google photos.

Thanks.

AC does not work, the clutch engages, but is not blowing cold. That is why I picked up the r134a upgrade kit. To get it blowing cool using the new stuff.

Sunroof works

I have uploaded a couple of trunk shots to the initial link.
No recent underside shots. I may be able to get some this weekend.

If you haven't put the R134a in yet, and haven't cleaned/altered the system for it - DON'T. There is R12 hanging around, and it's a LOT colder than R134a in a car designed for R12.

Good point! Plus conversion isnít as simple as charging it with 134 after changing the fittings.

Bump and reducing the price to asking $8k.

I have come to the stern realization that I simply don't have the time to wrench on it. That and I am taking a different approach with family and financial commitments. There are plans to jump back into the Porsche game, but having this one sit around unattended makes no sense.
