Text book case of stress risers. The question is is this in a place of high stress? Is there metal missing other than the slot type gouges?

Kurt,

The pictures I posted pretty much show the extent of the damage. Looks like the gouges were made from the air chisel during removal, causing material displacement which will later need to be filed down. The major gouges are where the race(s) would sit. The shop seems to think that if the race slides over w/o difficulty (even if filing is needed) the hub is fine. I understand the theory of stress risers causing possible fracture, etc. and voiced this concern to the shop. They asked me to bring the hubs by again so they could 'see/find replacements'.

Their comments after seeing pictures:

"Could you drop the stub axles off for me to see/find replacements.
Sorry to put you through this, I just want to make sure they are safe and useable"
