Actually, the Chillout System is electromechanical -- it runs a compressor and refrigerant, basically just a miniature a/c system. Apparently, they tried the solid-state designs and they just couldn't handle the load without excessive electrical load.

If PRO race series require cars to have Air Conditioning (I'm looking at you WEC), and if 90% or more of the track folks drive cars built since 1995.. why not just let them run with the AC on and windows up? Use turn signals as passing signals?

Sounds good! Don’t the computers do most of the driving now anyway? I can hear it now; “yea I had the a/c and my tunes on all day, car easily set a new DE lap record every session....”

FYI....if you do try to make your own cool shirt, don't run any of the tubing over your shoulders. Some of the earliest CoolShirts did this, and discovered that cinched down harness could cut off water flow in the tubing.
