I bought a 24" Ariens two years ago and love it. It has electric start, something I almost never use, and starts with one pull. It handled all of our snow last year with ease. It's also low enough that I can roll it into my Sequoia and clear my family's driveways.
Whatever you get, be sure to get a few cans of Fluid Film to keep the chute and auger clear from snow build up. Works better than Pam or WD-40.

I think the top two now are the Ariens and Toro. They have two almost identical models both 208cc or 8hp 9lb ft. and priced exactly the same. The Ariens has a third party engine and the Toro has a Briggs & Stratton. I like that I know the engine model on the Toro and ease of chute maneuverability. Areins has a 5 year Warranty if bought before 10-31-14.

hahaha, good point. 12" or less i guess i'll mostly be using this on the main drive, but will still use the blower attachment for some of the detail work around the house and clearing paths to the out buildings.

Regarding the tractor plow -- I've learned there's a time to push snow and another time to throw snow. Often the two together work best. Up here, the problem shows up around Feb where you've pushed the snow into a bank that's so high you can't throw snow OVER it anymore with the snowblower. Then eventually April shows up, a few warm days, and the snow bank melts down to just 4 or 5 feet or so... Nice JD, Cliff. Green, not orange? Andy
