Would anyone like to join me and a couple of other Porsches on a drive on April 8th? It's on the same day as the sold out Potomac PCA drive and dine event, but we'll be going somewhere completely different.

Right now, it's my family, my parents and a friend. All Porsches (3) so far. This would definitely be a kid friendly thing, since my 5 year old daughter and my friend's teenage daughter will be coming.

The options on the table right now are:

-The Luray Caverns area for lunch and optionally a cavern tour

-Lunch at the Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown, WV

But I'm open to other suggestions, including stopping at a couple of garages if we wanted to make it into a mini garage tour.

Personally, I will only be going if it's not raining, with a rain date of April 22.

I'll do my best to plan an interesting route. But, I won't be pre-running it. So, bring your GPS and a sense of adventure. It might go completely smooth, or I may get voted worst route planner Either way, we'll have fun.


If you're interested, post in the thread and/or send me a private message. Based on the responses, or lack thereof, I'll pick a destination and plan a route in the next couple of days.

I can't make either 4/8 nor 4/22, but might be interested in something like this another time. I have friends that swear by the Moo Thru ice cream shop near Bealeton, might be a fun spot to add to the itinerary if kids are coming along.

I've worked out a route. The general plan is:

09:30 - Leave Upperville, VA
~10:30 - Short break at an interesting location (TBD)
11:30 - Arrive at restaurant in Luray, VA via back roads
~1:00PM - Head to Luray Caverns for a walking tour
~2:00pm - Head home

Obviously, every portion is optional. Things will be very informal. If you want to go home at any point, or go your own way, or just meet us at the destination, then do so.

We'll be using FRS/GMS radios for comms. And I'll put mine and my wife's phone numbers on a printed hand out with route instructions. And email out an electronic version of the route that you can import into your device(s) for turn-by-turn guidance.

The specific meeting, break and lunch locations will be sent via email or PM. Just on the off chance that a random non-forum member decides to disrupt things.

Details are finalized. We have several Porsches coming. A nice route is planned on back roads. We've changed things slightly:

Itinerary:
• 09:30 – Leave Upperville Park
• ~10:30 – Arrive at The Apple House to get lunch to go
• ~11:00 – Leave The Apple House
• ~12:15 – Arrive at Wisteria Farm and Vineyard
• ~1:30 – Leave Wisteria Farm and Vineyard
• ~1:45 – Arrive at Main Street Flavors (end of scheduled drive)


Should be a good time. Weather looks cool, but clear.

It happened on the 8th. Turned out to be a perfect day for it. Lots of great roads, good food, the winery was nice and the people were great.
