Default WTB: Volvo 122 Wagon

Just as the title says - got a lead on a decent 122 wagon? I'm looking for a decent driver to enjoy with my dad for a little while.

Sounds like there mayb3 an interesting back story. Care to share!

As for me I’d love to find a Morris Minor drop head coup or wagon.

We had a number of Volvos growing up, until as my dad says, they put the word "luxury" in front of the word "car" and moved upscale with the same product at a higher price. The first car I ever drove was our '66 122 coupe and my formative wrenching was on that car and a 142 - my dad was thrilled that he was able to foist off not only lawn mowing to 10yo me but also oil changes and brake pads. My mom was thrilled that someone could yank off the rusted-through exhaust pipes and toss them in the trunk without having to drag them scraping all the way home.

The 66 was traded off after the BW35 failed again, for a drill press and other tools that I use to this day. The 142 eventually rusted away and donated its engine and manual trans to the '75 242 that I drove in college, affectionately known as the Flying Pig. Truth be told it didn't fly too much...

Dad's 80 this year and we think it'd be fun to tool around in a 122 for a while, then move it along again. I like the wagons so that's the target. He'd really like to get another 164 but they're harder to find in decent shape and harder to move along when we're done.

Great wishes, Ed, finding one.

Dad had a 76 245 DL. Didn't have overdrive and didn't have A/C Learned how to use a clutch. He was a fixer/DIY, but this Volvo gave him fits. Had a bit of rust issue. Lost exhaust brackets and grommets. It took 2 months to get rubber bushings, probably from Sweden. Ran it uncapped for that time Another time water got in gas tank and screwed up the injectors. He gave up and took it to Saluja on Lee Hwy.
