Default Club Race Details?

The PCA site shows the club race scheduled for next weekend.
I really want to go but may not be able to make it untill later Saturday Afternoon.

Is there a schedule of races and/or other events listed anywhere?
I've never been there so I don't know if it's kid freindly.
I know my 10 year old son Chris will have a great time.
I may be able to spend more time If I bring my wife Sharon and 2 girls Emily and Kelly. They are 7 and 5.

So is this a family event?
Montgomery County has no school on Monday so If there's enough going on on Sunday maybe we'll spend Sunday night there.

Thoughts?

Let me second William's request. I have a cousin coming in from England Wed. that I'd like to bring to the race, but I've got a couple of husbandly duties Sat. a.m. Any info from you guys with the secret password would be helpful for planning.

I've gone the past 2 years and have had a great time. While I've never seen an official schedule of the days events it seems that with the exception of lunch (more on that later) there are always cars on the track. General rule of thumb is that Sat is practice and qualifying while Sun is practice then racing.

Don't get me wrong - there is plenty of racing during practice and qualifying .. it's just not "official" racing

During lunch on both days PCA does a "Laps For Charity" program where for 20 bucks you get to do 3 (last year it was 6 but who was counting, right?) laps behind a BSR pace car.

Admission is free but you will need to sign your life away on a waiver as you enter the gate. I tend to get there early (ie., around 8 am) and stroll through the pits before rotating around the best vantage points. The day ends around 5 ish so there is plenty of opportunity to move around the park.

I'd highly recommend getting out there if you have a chance. Marc and I will be heading out on Saturday and I know that Jim and Chris M. will be manning one of the corner worker tubs both days.

Hope to see you there

I've never been to summit point so, more questions:
What to bring? Lawn chairs, coolers, grill, lunch? Dogs (Puppy)?
Besides lunch is there food?
Are pits open? If so what is protocall?
Where to sit/ good vantage points?

How many people do you guess show up?

I spoke to my wife Sharon about it last night, So far it looks like a family trip on Sunday.
Thanks for the info Doug!

William:

SP has all of the amenities that you would expect at a race track that caters to a bunch of race car driver want-to-bees.

Chez SP - Fine dining in saran wraping or foil bags.

Rest Rooms - Seperate for men and women, dogs have their choice.

Pits are open.

Grills are optional, but I'm not sure if you allowed to use them.

Best place to view - There are high school type grandstands near the carosel, otherwise you are free to roam, within reason.

Have fun, good stuff.

Are dogs really welcome?
We have a pug puppy. If you have never seen one it's about the size of a football with a smashed in face. Sort of a minature bulldog.
If so that will be one less headache to deal with trying to find someone to watch it.
