Default Hey everyone! First time 911 owner just introducing myself!

Yesterday I brought home my first 911. An 02, manual, with 18k miles. It’s my second Porsche (first was an 05 cayenne turbo), and only my third European car out of the 30 some odd cars I’ve had in the past 20 years (if you don’t count the wife’s vw’s). I’ve made sure that the IMS and RMS have already been done (Ralph’s did them about 1k miles ago in 2018), and I have a PPI scheduled at SSI on Friday. I have a 7 day return period that I hope I won’t have to use, as I’m already really enjoying the car.

In the two days I’ve owned it I’ve replaced the battery, fixed a rattling drivers side exhaust tip (broken stud), and remedied a loose door prop rod on the drivers side that was making noise. Other than sticky radio knobs, the interior is damned near perfect, as is the exterior. I’m excited!

Hope to learn as much as I can, actually put some miles on the car, and enjoy Porsche ownership for the foreseeable future. My other current toy is a 46k mile 2004 Mazdaspeed miata that’s going to be hard to part with when I inevitably decide I don’t need two sportscars (hoping the 911 isn’t quite as finicky as I’ve made that one with personalized modifications) The Porsche already has a fabspeed intake, with the exception of either a modified factory exhaust or an aftermarket exhaust, and changing out the factory shifter, I don’t currently plan any extensive modifications not necessitated by reliability concerns or upgrading worn out factory components over time.

Great to meet you all (in advance)!
Ken

Good looking car!
By PPI you mean Post Purchase? I hope since you've already done some work to the car that it passes well too and you don't have to return it! I hope the items fixed were already reflected in your price.

18K miles in 18 years? its hardly been used. hopefully you will use it much more.

Welcome and good luck w/ the 996. With that low mileage...definitely keep an eye on the oil for possible IMS bearing issues.

Good choice on SSI as a shop. Good guys, honest, reasonably priced for a P-car shop.

To fix your sticky knobs (get your mind out of the gutter boys)

Pull them off, push toothpics into the backs to make a handle, then dip them onto Plastidip or Liquid Electrical Tape. Hang them by the toothpic hadles to dry.

Nice car.
