Default Hans shopping

I've been out of the DE game for a long while. I am looking to change that this year. This means I will need a HANS to go with a new helmet.

Wondering what brand Head and Neck devices folks like? don't like? Suggestions when shopping for one etc. Luckily OG Racing is literally, "around the corner" from me if I want to go shopping. Just looking to see what folks are using and why you chose it.

TIA

Talk to the guys at OG, get right size for neck, some can be a bit tight. If you get around to instructing jumping in and out of cars with 3 point belts, might look at some of the "Hybrid" ones that strap to your chest, b ut can still be used with harnesses. Make sure your harnesses are newer than 5 years!!

+1 for a visit to OG. Set up an appointment with them and go try everything on. HANS is the household name, but NecksGen and the Simpson Hybrid are great. I own an out-of-date NecksGen, but I also have HANS connectors as my LeMons team shares a HANS.

I can't remember if the current generation of the HANS still does this, but the way the shoulder mounts were made meant that you _should_ use the smaller 2" wide shoulder belts, vs the normal 3" belts. Many have used 3" belts with a HANS just fine, of course.

Dave, I know OG Racing doesn't carry the Schroth product line, but their SHR Flex line is amazing.

Thanks for the feedback so far. @Paddy, I like that Schroth version, thanks for mentioning it.

How do folks install the anchors on their helmets? Are templates provided with the HNR device? Are modern helmets already built with anchors or is there two much variability between HNR and Helmet fitment to preclude this? Is this a reasonable DIY? Special tools needed?

Do some places (OG? Stable Energies etc) provide such service for an additional fee?

Most if not all 2015 + helmets from the usual makes will have the anchors already installed, if not installed I believe the holes are already there, no special tools.

I am 99.999% sure that H&N anchors were part of the SA 2015 standard, so you don't have to drill any 2015 or 2020 helmet.

I've already swapped over the HANS attachment to my new SA2020 helmet. It's a breeze. 5 min top to install, and most of that is finding the right size hex bit in the toolbox.
