Classic European 4-seater convertible ideas ???
Looking to buy a classic convertible for weekend cruiser with the family. Originally wanted a 1989 Speedster or 356 cab until I realized neither had rear seats. Time for plan B. Now that I actually started looking, options seem pretty limited out there. Not looking for a concourse car. Want a driver which retains more of its originality. Anyone got any ideas?
Currently looking at these: 1967 Austin-Healey 3000MKIII 1968 SHELBY GT500 (Yea I know, it's 'merican) 1960s Mercedes-Benz 190 SL 1967 Fiat Dino Spyder

There's always the Beetle. The Mustang is probably the best overall choice for a weekend car.
How about a Benz 280 SE 3.5? AH is pretty, but agricultural. Plus, Lucas. Triumph Stag fits the bill, but you will never find a more wretched hive of bad engineering (ask me how I know). Lancia Flavia cabrio is pretty. Ferrari Mondial maybe too late? Then there are the crazy $: Lancia B50. Facel Vega. Mmmm, Facel Vega...

'60s midsize convertible or Mustang. Saw a nice late '50s Tbird cab on BAT. Always seem to be a couple of '60s midsize for sale at local car shows too.
Late '60s pre '74 midsize American cars make great weekend cruisers. Ask Mulligan….

Re: Mondial, yes they seat 4, look into the Mondial T. They are supposedly very much improved with the longitudinal engine and other updates.

Nice choices! Not sure about 4 in an SL and I hear you on a S. I really liked the w113 I had, looked great, but not a sports car. I'd consider a 2nd gen Corvair.

190SL or 280SE. The 190 is just one of the best looking cars ever.
