Well the first 1/2 of the trip went fine. then the A/C compressor seized, and threw the belt which knocked the air pump/fan belt off. I didn't know this until I got off the highway for dinner and the temp crept up. The first AAA contractor said they wouldn't come until Monday, the 2nd one would tow on Saturday. Meanwhile the 928 had cooled off and I was able drive to within 5 miles of home until I had to stop because it overheated and steamed off. Made a second stop to cool down and added water, then got home. The next day I got the fan belt back on. Need to look at why the rad cap didn't vent.

Glad to hear you got it home. That was a risk.

Good job. Now you a story worth telling and a memory to keep.

How boring would it be to say "on Tuesday it showed up on a trailer"

But, it didn't seize or go up in a blazing inferno of death and all the oh so serious hand wringing was over all the infinite negative scenarios that never occurred.

Good job on using your head and nursing it home.

Set my first project is to replace those fuel lines under the hood and I cannot get one of the junctions to the Hardline separated. The male end is partly rounded already so that a flare nut slips a bit. The options I see remaining r2 cut the female nut into bits or try heatting it in place. I disconnected that hard line from the fuel distributor but it looks like the whole line won't pull out unless I disassemble the whole intake. Any other ideAs?

might be able to use a Dremel or a file to square the male end up a bit and get a smaller size open ended wrench on there...but good chance it will round off again...

HEAT. soak with penetrating oil, let cool, soak in some more, HEAT again then try. Clamp a ViceGrip tight around the flare wrench to help prevent it from slipping.

Way less effort to take the time and not Beaver up the fittings.

I'd let it soak with your choice of lube/penetrating oil then let it soak some more. Be real careful with heat, obviously. Good time to have a wet towel and fire extinguisher handy. Share a pick?
