It's cold and windy....time to work in the garage
Started doing my winter maintenance on the race car. Last year was a new motor (not by choice and yes you can still get brand new blocks from Porsche), this year it is going through the setup and alignment. It's been a couple of years since I have gone through everything. I built a set of hubstands to make the task much easier. Setting ride height and rake, corner balancing, front caster, camber and toe. The rear is a PITA to adjust but the right rear toe is off just a little. Already did the oil change and 2nd oil analysis on the new motor and a new set of indexed spark plugs. Will work on new front wheel bearings next and then the final torque check of all the nuts, bolts, axles, and general visual inspection of the underside and will be ready for the 2024 season.
Who else wants to share what car things they are doing to get ready for warmer weather and play with our big boy toys?

Engine/ trans bolted back in place. Did most of the topside connections last weekend. Crawling on floor doing the underneath connections will likely be some time in February. Need to change out a torn axle boot as well.

Not that I have the ability, but would be nice if you do a write up of how to make the hub stands for the ambitious among us. 😉 As far as car stuff goes, I did the break in oil change in the Cayman, and took the GT3 for full details. Might be a good time to take some FS pictures when it’s back.

These are all great. Who needs a therapist when you have a heated garage and tools? Although the therapist would be much cheaper, wouldn't be nearly as effective and satisfying..... but on certain days..... much less frustrating. Sometimes those Germans were just diabolical in their engineering ideas.

Looking good Steve ! I used to think $400 alignment (RPM or ASG) was fairly spendy on a 968.... and after looking at all you have going on there it appears to be a screaming deal.
