Switch out the front caliper bolts to studs since you will be changing pads often. The caliper needs to be removed to change the pads on the 981S.

Certainly personal preference but I run Pagid RS29's on the front and PFC08s on the rear. I like the brake bias it gives me. I also run with the Sebro solid slotted rotors as I am too poor to afford the AP setup.

not to girodisc

sebro low cost stops the car fine

cal studs or time-serts both work well but those calipers are annoying to deal with

What options are there for increasing the air flow? More air flow cures many issues for the least amount of $

Otto, you are over thinking this again, drive the bloody car first at a couple events, then figure out what you might need!!

Except a harness bar, seats, harnesses, HANS. It's the first rule. Be safe.

^ All good advice. Last thing you need is brake upgrades. Drive it as is first with track pads, then slotted rotors, safety, cooling, suspension (bars, shocks) over time. I've switched back to Pagid pads from PFC. PFC 08s were apparently somewhat contributing to my ice pedal issues. Sounds like the newer Caymans don't have this issue so may be able to use more variance in pad brands / materials.

finely something i can use

but this also makes me want the stoptech setup, where it is supper easy to change pads from the top of the caliper

if i did get the girodisc, i would still be removing the calipers to change pads, what a pain

yeah

been looking at a harness bar as opposed to a bolt in roll bar

not sure which way to go at this point

intend to look more closely at other 981s at the track to see what people have, like and don't like

plan to only drive the car at 80% until i get it all sorted

i may even be driving on the new p-zero street rubber the dealer provided

trying to get a used set of track wheels with the right specs for a 981

no luck at the swap meet

wondering if i can run 19x11et50 on the rear and 19x8.5et50 on the front

i have been learning that the offset is not carved in stone as i had thought, and that each wheel size, 18 vs 19 vs 20, changes the acceptible offset range a bit, generally et+/-5 for each size can still work, but a test fit at speed it needed for certainty

I have a BGB Motorsport harness bar, which has a halo (rollbar). It’s pretty good but not as strong as a true half cage. You can check it and other stuff out at https://www.teambgb.com/

I have a set of 18” track wheels from a 987.2 on our 981. Fitment is fine. Tire diameters for the 981 are greater, +/- 1”, front and rear IIRC.

Have your tried your 987.2 wheels?
