Garage doors! Unfortunately, either the garage door guys or my GC can't math. Discussion before installation was that 32" radius track would get the track within 4-6" of the ceiling, and to get closer would require cu$$$tom radius track. OK, sounds fine. Somehow 4-5" became 22". Grrr. GC is to talk with garage guys again, and I've asked him to get them to explain why a high rise vertical track won't do the job.

Big thanks to Jazz Bass and others who have covered this topic.

We have an occupancy permit and a punch list, with any luck we might be moving soon. Today was densifying concrete day, with fancy-dancy Ghostshield 8505 sealer going down after this stuff cures for a few days. The 8505 is supposed to be oil resistant, we'll see what happens the first time I overshoot the oil drain pan...

Also now comes the reckoning, in which we see that the money squirreled away for the lift needs to pay for more tile than we initially expected, so that part of the thread will be a while in coming...

I noticed in prior pix that you can see the Liftmaster ceiling light that was initially installed. The garage door guys didn't seem to know that Liftmaster makes a remote-controlled light switch: https://www.liftmaster.com/for-busin...es/model-823lm

So the ugly-ass light is gone, and the ceiling cans come on instead. The switch is limited to 2.5A, but the cans are LEDs and don't draw much.

With most of the junk we own finally in the house and various Family Responsibilities more or less taken care of, it's time to start making the garage a garage. Pulled my tools out of storage last weekend, made a run to Winchester Metals, and commenced to building work benches. First up is a rolling bench built on casters and base salvaged from a 42U server cabinet. Cabinet was rated for 1000lb, tubing is 11ga, so I think this should be suitable for work including engine & trans drops.

Tip of the hat to Vicegrip - the Milwaukee band saw you mentioned in N0tt0n's build thread is the bee's knees for tubing.

Good work. It wasnt that long ago that I was moving through a maze of boxes thinking there was no end in sight. So glad that is over but also happen I went through it. I still find drywall dust in drawers, behind boxes... that stuff is evil.

The place looks great
