Default road trip to pick up 928

I'm looking for someone to go with me to pick up an early 928. Its in north-central NY, so about 5 hrs each way. I'll cover expenses, looking to go Friday Oct. 4. Email me at scottpers@gmail.com if interested.

Seems like it was the correct subforum, as he needs an electrical engineer to go with him so the car can be kept running all the way back home

What kinds of help exactly?

Extra body to pull said car out of a barn and onto a trailer?
Want someone to provide a trailer/tow vehicle?
Someone familiar with 928s?
Someone to drive the 928 (or your car) back to York once you've acquired the car?

Someone to drive up with and follow me back. Ideally someone who knows 928s in case that knowledge is needed on the drive back. It is a driver but hasn't been driven more than 20ish miles in years. If a trailer/tow vehicle is offered, I think I'd take that!

Please tell us more about the 928.

Have you already purchased it?
Are you in the process of acquiring the car?
Is it registered, tagged and insured?
What’s the current condition of the car?
Can you provide the details from the for sale ad?

Thanks

This trip is to finalize sale and take delivery.

Yes. I'm getting a PPI on Friday; barring a massive surprise, the deal is done.

Not presently, I'll have tags and insurance docs with me for the drive back.

Its a 1978 slicktop mantrans with 71K miles. Lots of maintenance done, belt is 10yrs old though. Looks like it was repainted white, maybe over petrol blue, black interior. I found it on Rennlist. Being pre-81 its hard to get history other than via a PPS (COA) from Porsche.

The 928 was the iconic car of my youth; very excited to finally have one. Are you interested in giving support?!

This is a lot to ask from someone new to the board!

You quoted Karl’s questions but didn’t answer any of them. I’m out, but NY is a long way to go to pickup a mystery p-car that is notorious for having all kinds of issues, with a total stranger that lives 100+ miles from most on this board.

Please look again, I answered all of them - in the quoted section. I agree it is a lot to ask. No harm done if there are no takers.
