Yesterday I removed the front valence and bumper. Still looking good underneath.

Today I only had a little garage time so I removed the smile and stripped down the front bumper of the trim mount strip and removed the headlight washers. Fortunately with a little heat gun application I was able to get the parts to come apart without breaking anything. Those suckers are expensive!

I'm seeing, or actually not seeing, something that is deeply concerning: where's the rust? Are you sure this is an actual Porsche and not some plastic replica? That's the first time I've seen the undersides/insides of a 40+ year old unrestored Porsche without a bunch of rust. I hope the rest of the project is as rust-free.

Good luck -- this looks like a fun project. Do yourself a favor and label the parts as you take them off. Put small parts (nuts, washers, bolts, etc.) in plastic bags and tape them to the associated big parts. Also, before you take complex assemblies apart, take pictures of the whole assembly; then print out the pics and place the pics with the parts -- you'll be so much happier in a year or two when you try to reassemble things and can't remember exactly how they go together and can't remember which pics go with which parts. A little extra work now will pay HUGE dividends down the road.

Yep, I am thrilled with the condition so far....

And yes I am keeping organized, that is slowing me down but it will be worth it.

I put every set of hardware in its own labeled baggie, the baggie goes into a medium bin with the bin number on the baggie. I am keeping a diary by day that says what I took off and what bin it is in along with pics on my cell. (I used this method before on my bus....) I am on bin 2 so far.

For assembly I will start at the back of the diary and put that part on first. I can refer to pics from that date that are in my cell. When I get back to the beginning of the diary I guess I'll need Tito, Mike, Scott, and John to show up for the engine install to make it complete.

Made good progress today.

Removed the front oil cooler, headlight, horn, and the wiring harnesses (previous owner did some janky wiring, for an alarm I think). Took out a gazillion bolts and then the fender. All the bolts came off surprisingly easy. Very satisfying.

Finally saw some rust. There is surface rust where the fender meets the tub at the top rear. Fortunately it is only surface rust, nothing shows up at all on the other side.

Last Saturday and Sunday I removed the front sway bar and skid plate, gas tank and filler assembly, washer reservoir, gas vent tank, and the drivers fender. Still looking good as far as no structural rust.
