Autometrics brought a 997 RSR to last year's Summit club race. Corey set a new overall PCA track record of 1:12.1 (1:11.0 this year) and I was curious what his min corner speeds were compared to mine.

RSR vs Cayman

T1 49 50
T3 86 85
T4 113 107
T5 48 49
T9 93 89
T10 93 90

Lap 1:12.1 vs 1:18.2

These are not his or my best min speeds; just his best weekend lap compared to mine.

Looked great. Congrats on the record.
This is self congratulatory, but the blue classroom students have heard me say many times that the min for tin top cars is virtually the same, especially in slow corners.

What I learned a while ago is that my slowness is due to the corner speed, which I look at from turn in to track out. In most cases, including mine, it is not having the confidence to push the go pedal early enough after apex to minimize time between those two points, so even if you carry the min same speed, the slower drivers spend more time at or near than min speed.

Your solution is easy, just buy an RSR.

Yup Brian, you can see that his speeds at the "important turns" leading onto to the longer straights are higher than yours making for a bigger difference in total lap times, with your slightly faster corner speeds leading on to the shorter straights. Interesting comparison.

What I learned the first time I did data comparisons with a pro driver driving my car the same day as me was that I was just as fast as the pro driver in the slow corners. This was a surprise because I thought that the slow corners where were I was losing time because certainly no one could be “that much” faster than me in the fast corners.....
