I tend to agree with DonNewton. Never tried to drive when we visited. Believe it or not we took the bus tour. They hit all of the tourists spots in one afternoon. From Hollywood Bowl we saw the sign. We touched the tar pits. I wish we knew where the Sheryl Crow afternoon bar was. It all stated in Hollywood: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...alifornia.html

Thanks for the suggestion about the HopOn-HopOff bus. Looks like some routes touch Santa Monica, so would be convenient from a hotel there.

So.....I know wishful thinking......but......does anyone happen to have an inside track to Jay Leno's Big Dog garage??

My brothers and I went to the Porsche Effect exhibit in May. They have many other great exhibits there (e.g. Fors GT, McLaren lightweight study) so plan for at least a half day there. If available get tickets to their "vault tour" also.

In addition to Petersen would certainly suggest the Broad. They have two Infinity Mirror Room exhibits in addition to other amazing modern and pop art.

Getty Villa and Getty Museum are also great, in addition to Malibu, Venice Beach and Beverly Hills people watching.

Don't know about Jay Leno's garage, but we saw a collectible or supercar literally every 10 minutes (without counting Beverly Hills).

Have a great trip!

Oh, if you ever find the need to get from the west side (for instance from the Getty) to the valley (say Glendale) I would recommend going the long way around through the mountains. I think Topanga Canyon Rd or something. A few nice curves with even nicer views at the top.

The drive up to Mt Wilson used to be nice. We were there 8 years ago, excellent drive up.

If you take Don up on his offer, CALL ME. I have a friend in La Jolla who is a wonderful and unique person, and who loves meeting new people and I guarantee if he and his wife are in town, he would host you, probably invite you to dinner.
