Do it on the street too. It should become second nature. My mom taught me to shift that way when I learned to drive (we had no automatics.) She used to be able to double-clutch so she could drive my grandfather's non-syncro cabs.

looks like Rob is shifting with an open hand. I don't race, but have always done this also and have found for going from third to fourth have my palm facing away from me. when going into any other gear it doesn't matter as much. That way much less risk of pulling the shifter into second from third.

Correct. The video I posted earlier shows me shifting with an "open" hand.

And I agree 100% about the 3rd to 4th shifting. That's what led me to change my shifting technique.
