Garage and workshop organization
I did not see a thread about this, so I thought it would be great to share ideas how you organize your tools and equipment in your shop and garage, as well to get ideas and inspiration to organize your place.
Here are a few drawers I did to get it started. All the blue items are 3D printed. The dividers are made from galvanized sheet metal. Cheers Engelbert

Tidy! Why do you have so many offset wrenches? Lots of dupes?

Nice setup
I always like to see what others guys are doing, if only to chock it away in the memory banks. Also cool to see the custom wrenches, each one tells a story. How long do you curse and wish you were somewhere else before you pull out the red wrench and make your tool fit? I'm pretty happy with the plier organizer I picked up, much better than a drawer full of tools but that you have to sort through every time.

Because there are that many. Sometimes you need a specially shaped one to get to a fastener. At a minimum I have short pattern/stubby, regular, long pattern, deep offset box, crows foot, ratcheting. I have several in the snap-in holders where you can grab them all and go.
I store my sockets on sticks. Very compact. Again, eventually you'll end up w/ a dozen+ sets (3 drive sizes, 6 & 12 point, deep socket, impact and swivel varieties too.) Have tried the trays and you can't take them to the work.

Yeah I meant those things to the left of the crows foot things. I totally get having a ton of other wrenches. This makes me think that I should store mine upright like there ones to the right.
One thing I hate though is.picking up one thing and everything else comes with it. I also hate crawling under the car with a 15 and needing to go back and get the 16mm. Thanks BMW. I can't win. |
