Thanks for talking with me yesterday and hunting down the tranny mount.

However, I realized after I posted a pic of the mount, that instead, I am looking for the one that is below:
That does look like the later 901/911 type.

Yea, I had a fellow 12'er replace his front mount with the 911 type and he stated that I had to find an earlier type... I sent him a message asking what years he means by "early".

I think it may be the type that has mounts attached to the carrier.

From the PET it looks like they changed in '70. 901/911 cross pieces are different from 915.

Thanks David... do you know (or does anyone know) if the pre '70 bracket only came with the semi-solid mounts attached or is there one that will fit that allows for the separate mounts?

The 901 motormount was used to the end of 71. In 72 the 915 gearbox was brought out and the later 915 motomount was used with easily replaceable motormountings.
901 motormount is generally shaped like a banana whereas the 915 is short and straight across as shown in post #10. The 901 rubber mounts weren't meant to be replaced rather the germans wanted the whole mount replaced. The tapered cones were welded into the 901 mount. I never had the time to see if the 901 rubber and sleeve could be retrofitted by disassembling a 915 motormounting (factory or AM) and make or modify it into the 901 mount.
