used brake pads
I keep scaring the McDonald's drive through girl with my squeeling Hawk HP plus pads on the BMW.
I'm planning to put the original pads back on until spring. Any special issues to consider when putting used pads back on? If I didn't mark the pads left vs right when I took them off, does it matter if they get switched? Thanks.

some people say it matters but i think that may have more to do with whether you're experiencing uneven pad wear than under "normal" conditions
as for putting the stock/used pads back on, you just have to do the same bedding-in procedure as if you were putting on new race pads. it's not so much ab bedding but rather about pad material transfer. this should be done each time you change compounds. |

Naw, I do it. Pagid orange to track. Std pads off. I mark mine but I don't think it matters as long as the wear is even.

Mark them - it matters. I accidentally switched my pads after taking them off to do some caliper work (put the inner on the outer and vice versa) on the same side. IIRC, the inner pad wears faster and in a different pattern, so when they went back in, the pads didn't make full contact with the rotor. This is on the left front. I go out for a test drive, hit the brakes and the car pulls violently to the right. 100% brake on the right (where the pads were seated fully) and 40% braking on the left = not good times. And since they were track pads, the harder compound meant they didn't wear in very fast. After switching the pads back, I was fine.
